About This Access Site
Edson Creek Recreation Site offers convenient boat launch access to the Sixes River in southwestern Oregon, located at the confluence of Edson Creek and the Sixes River near the coastal town of Sixes. The boat ramp is situated in a day-use area across the road from the main campground, providing easy access for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. To reach the site from Highway 101, turn east onto Sixes River Road approximately 4-5 miles from either Port Orford (north) or Bandon (south), then follow signs to the day-use area.

The site is well-suited for paddlers seeking a scenic freshwater paddle, with the Sixes River offering popular fishing and swimming opportunities. Day-use parking is available for $2, while overnight camping is available at the adjacent Edson Creek Campground ($8 per night) for those planning multi-day trips. The recreation area features ADA-accessible restrooms and is managed by the BLM's Myrtlewood Field Office. Be aware that conditions and facilities may vary seasonally, so it's worth contacting the field office at 541-756-0100 before your visit to confirm access and current conditions.
