The El Dorado Beach boat ramp in South Lake Tahoe provides convenient lake access for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The ramp is located right off Highway 50 at Lakeview Avenue, making it easily accessible.
While the boat ramp is open year-round, its usability is dependent on the water level of Lake Tahoe. In 2021, the ramp is closed to motorized vessels due to low lake levels. However, the adjacent El Dorado Beach remains open for launching non-motorized craft like kayaks and canoes. The beach also offers a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and taking in views of Mt. Tallac.
Nearby, you'll find several campgrounds within 10 miles, including the reservable Eagles Nest at Camp Richardson Resort and Zephyr Cove RV & Campground. The Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit also offers additional recreation opportunities in the area, from hiking trails to the Taylor Creek Visitor Center.
