About This Access Site
El Dorado-Quail Run offers a 4-lane boat ramp providing convenient access to El Dorado Lake, an 8,000-acre reservoir impounding the Walnut River in Butler County. This access point is part of El Dorado State Park and serves as an ideal launch location for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters exploring the scenic southeastern arm of the lake.

The Walnut River feeding this reservoir is a large, flowing waterway with an average flow of 1,063 cubic feet per second and moderate gradient of 3.3 feet per mile. Paddlers can expect stable, steady water conditions typical of a major river system. The lake itself provides calm water suitable for various skill levels, while anglers will find the 8,000-acre expanse offers excellent opportunities. El Dorado State Park's facilities include camping and hiking trails, making this an excellent base for a multi-day paddling or recreation trip.

Before launching, contact Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks or visit the official El Dorado State Park information for current conditions, seasonal hours, access fees, and any regulations specific to the reservoir.
