Ellis Lock and Dam No. 11

Ellis Lock and Dam No. 11 provides boat ramp access to the Muskingum River near Zanesville. The 112-mile Muskingum River offers extended paddling opportunities for kayakers and canoeists, with this site serving as a convenient launch point. The ramp allows access to the pool upstream of the dam, making it suitable for flatwater paddling in that section.

**Important considerations:** Water levels can fluctuate significantly at this location, and paddlers should check current conditions before planning a trip. The lock itself is no longer operational and is not in good repair. There is no protective fencing around the lock structure. If paddling downstream, note that you can only access Ellis Dam from the Dresden ramp (located two pools upstream); portaging around the dam is not a viable option at this site.
