About This Access Site
Eureka East is a state-owned boat ramp on the Ocklawaha River in northeast Marion County, Florida, managed by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners. The ramp provides access to the scenic Ocklawaha River and the Oklawaha River Aquatic Preserve, making it an excellent starting point for kayakers, canoeists, and other paddlers. The facility includes parking and is located approximately 4 miles east of Fort McCoy near County Route 316. The boat ramp is open 24 hours for launching and retrieval.

From Eureka East, paddlers can explore diverse river sections depending on their skill level and distance preferences. Upstream (south) toward Silver Springs State Park offers a scenic, slower-moving paddle through the river's upper reaches, while downstream access provides exploration of the Ocklawaha's lower sections. The river in this area is popular for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, wildlife viewing, and nature photography. Several campgrounds within 10 miles—including Lake Delancy West, Lake Eaton, and Lake Shore Group Camp—offer convenient overnight options for paddlers planning multi-day trips.
