Eureka West Public Water Access

Eureka West Recreation Area offers a convenient public launch point on Eureka Lake, located approximately 4 miles east of Fort McCoy on the north side of County Route 316 in McPherson County. The site features a single-lane boat ramp with a fixed dock, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. A handicap-accessible dock is also available on the north shore near the public shelter house.

The recreation area provides good amenities for a full day of paddling, including parking, picnic facilities, and accessible restrooms (located at the south area near the swimming beach). An accessible fishing pier is available for those without boats. **Note:** A South Dakota park entrance license is required to access boat ramps at state recreation areas. The ramp provides access to both upstream paddling and downstream water exploration, making it a versatile launch point for various water activities.
