About This Access Site
Ewing Park provides access to Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a massive 114,000-acre impoundment in Angelina County's Big Thicket region. The ramp features a concrete four-lane launch suitable for all boat types, including kayaks and canoes, making it a convenient access point for paddlers exploring the expansive reservoir. However, be aware that the ramp may become unusable during periods of low lake levels, so water conditions should be verified before planning your trip.

This recreation area is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operates year-round. Boat ramp access requires a day-use pass, which can be purchased through Recreation.gov. Note that the Sam Rayburn Project Office no longer accepts cash payments—passes must be obtained in advance online or by contacting the Project Office at (409) 384-5716. The surrounding Big Thicket area offers scenic paddling opportunities with diverse native flora and wildlife.
