The Eyak River boat ramp is a popular access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small powerboats in the Cordova area. Located 800 yards downstream from the Eyak River Bridge, it is the only public boat launch on this sizeable river.
The Eyak River is a large, slow-moving stream with an average elevation drop of just 2 feet over its 9-mile length. With a total drainage area of 85 square miles, it is classified as a 7th order stream, making it a substantial waterway. The river is known for excellent fly fishing opportunities, particularly for sockeye and coho salmon.
The boat ramp facility includes a launch area, parking lot, and restrooms. It is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service and has been open to the public since 1981. While not reservable, this access point provides an important entry point for those looking to explore the Eyak River and surrounding Copper River Delta region, which is famous for its abundant birdlife and natural beauty.
