The Fairfax boat ramp is located on the west side of Monroe Lake in Bloomington and provides convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Operated by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as part of Fairfax State Recreation Area, this is one of nine launch points around the lake. The site offers free entrance with a valid DNR annual pass and features amenities including picnic areas and a swimming beach, making it suitable for a full day of recreation.
Monroe Lake is a large, calm-water reservoir ideal for paddling, particularly for beginners and recreational kayakers and canoeists. The Fairfax launch provides good access for exploring the lake's western shoreline. If you're planning an overnight trip, Blackwell Campground is available within 10 miles and offers reservable campsites. For additional services, the Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina is also located at the recreation area.
