About This Access Site
The Fall River Lake boat ramp is conveniently located on the south side of the reservoir near the dam in Engineers Cove, providing easy access to this 10,900-acre recreation area in Greenwood County, Kansas. The ramp serves as an entry point for boaters, kayakers, canoeists, and jet skiers looking to explore the scenic lake nestled in rolling prairie country. Note that this facility is not ADA compliant. From US Highway 400, take mile marker 344 (Z 50 Rd) north 0.09 miles, then east 2.4 miles, and south at the park entrance.

Fall River Lake offers excellent conditions for paddling and boating with ample water surface area and calm cove access near the launch point. The underlying Fall River is a large stream (Stream Order 6) with an average flow of 612 cubic feet per second and moderate gradient, providing varied paddling opportunities. Beyond the lake, paddlers can explore the scenic Fall River corridor, which features diverse wildlife and bird watching opportunities within the Fall River Game Management Area.

The facility operates as a full recreation area with camping, picnicking, and swimming amenities available. Popular activities include fishing for white bass and other species, water skiing, and sightseeing. Nearby Toronto Lake, featuring Kansas' only granite outcrop, offers an alternative paddling destination worth exploring in the region.

Fall River and Lake provide visitors with endless boating, water skiing, jet skiing and swimming opportunities. Anglers will find white bass, bluegill, crappie, green sunfish and channel catfish, to be plentiful.
For birdwatchers and nature lovers, there is an 8,000 acre public wildlife area, where prairie chickens, waterfowl of all kinds, rabbits, wild turkeys, white tail deer, doves and quail are commonly seen.

This campground straddles Fall River below the spillway. There are 13 rentable sites. 2 sites with 50 amp and water and 6 sites with 30 amp and water. There are 5 sites with water only. Additional amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, and a playground.
Natural Features
Rolling prairies and tree-dotted valleys sheltered by limestone-capped ridges surround Fall Lake. The lake is about a mile wide at the damsite and stretches up the picturesque Fall River for 15 miles. This scenic area has a wealth of native wildlife and vegetation.
Nearby Attractions
Fall River State Park is nearby, offering great fishing and birding along the river. Canoeing is also a popular activity in the park.
