About This Access Site
The Ladd Bridge Boat Ramp provides direct access to Fall River, a large flowing stream (Stream Order 6) in Greenwood County, Kansas. Located near US Highway 400 (approximately 2.4 miles east of mile marker 344), this ramp offers river access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The Fall River features an average flow of 612 cubic feet per second with a moderate gradient of 3.4 feet per mile, making it suitable for recreational paddling and boating.

Paddlers should be aware that water depth can be variable, particularly near the confluence with Otter Creek north of the bridge. Trolling motors are sometimes more practical than larger engines in shallower sections. The area experiences strong winds, so conditions can change quickly. Fall River supports good fishing (white bass and gar noted by recent users) and connects to Fall River Lake, a 10,900-acre recreation area offering swimming, water skiing, and scenic opportunities through rolling prairie and game management lands.

Note that the ramp itself does not have dock facilities, so loading and unloading requires careful planning, especially during windy conditions. Contact Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks for current conditions and any seasonal access information before your visit.
