Fanning Branch Park offers a convenient public access point to Holmes Creek in Washington County's Atlantic Coastal Plain region. The facility features a concrete boat ramp with easy launching and landing conditions, plus a pavilion area for visitors. To reach the ramp from Vernon, head south on SR 79 for 7.2 miles to Miller's Ferry Road, turn right for 3.8 miles, then turn left on Shell Landing Road (SR 284A) and continue 2.9 miles to the landing.
This is a popular put-in for kayakers and canoeists paddling Holmes Creek's scenic downstream sections. Many paddlers use Fanning Branch as a starting point for trips toward Hightower Spring and beyond. The area provides a good launching spot for both day trips and multi-mile paddle routes. Specific information about parking, fees, and facility hours should be confirmed before visiting.
