About This Access Site
Farnum Creek offers convenient boat access to Milford Lake on the Republican River, located just 15 minutes north of Junction City via Highway 77. The facility features a dedicated boat ramp along with a full campground (59 sites, many with electric hookups) that includes pull-through RV pads, hot showers, and a dump station. The campground is reservable through Recreation.gov; call 785-463-5791 for more information.

Milford Lake is known for excellent fishing and provides a scenic setting for boating, paddling, and water recreation. The Republican River itself is a large, navigable waterway (stream order 7) with an average flow of approximately 1,048 cubic feet per second and a modest gradient of 4.8 feet per mile, making it suitable for various watercraft. Life jackets are required while on the water, and visitor hours end at 9 p.m. The lake also offers hunting and birding opportunities across nearly 70% of the surrounding public lands.

the largest man-made lake in Kansas, with a surface area of 15,700 acres and 163 miles of shoreline.
