Fielding Lake offers a convenient boat ramp for accessing this scenic alpine lake in interior Alaska. The boat ramp provides easy launching for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. The lake itself is roughly 2 miles long and 1 mile wide, with generally calm waters well-suited for paddling and fishing.
The boat launch site has a small campground with 17 campsites, as well as a public-use cabin that can be reserved. Facilities include vault toilets, but no garbage service is available. Access to the recreation area is at mile 200.5 of the Richardson Highway. While the boat ramp is open year-round, the access road may not be plowed in winter, limiting access for those seasons.
For those looking to explore beyond the lake, the One Mile Trail provides hiking access to adjacent public lands and the Gakona River Valley. In winter, the Castner Glacier Trail offers a route for accessing the glacier on the southeast side of the lake. Fielding Lake offers a convenient, peaceful launching point to enjoy Alaska's wilderness by boat or paddle.
