About This Access Site
The Fish Lake (South) access point provides public boat launch access to Fish Lake Flowage, a 3,259-acre lake in St. Louis County, Minnesota. Located near Saginaw, this ramp serves as a convenient entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The lake has a maximum depth of 36 feet, offering diverse paddling conditions across its expansive surface.

Paddlers should be aware of seasonal no-wake restrictions: when water levels reach 892.0 feet above sea level, a no-wake zone takes effect until levels recede. The City posts no-wake flags at the boat launch and near the Weaver Lake Road outlet to indicate when these restrictions are active. Fish Lake Regional Park, located nearby in a wooded lakeside setting, offers additional amenities including picnic areas and facilities for water-based recreation.

The access site provides a good jumping-off point for exploring this large Minnesota lake, with nearby recreation options including the Lake Superior Estuarine Research Reserve and the Duluth-Superior Harbor area to the west.
