Fishtrap Lake is a 191-acre freshwater lake in Lincoln County, Washington, featuring a public boat launch maintained by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. A paid parking permit (purchased in advance from WDFW) is required to use this access point. The lake sits at 1,978 feet elevation and is stocked with rainbow trout, making it popular with both anglers and paddlers.
For kayakers and canoeists, the public launch near Fishtrap Resort provides access to approximately 3 miles of paddling. Head southwest from the launch to explore the entire lake, and watch for a protected cove on the west side around the 2-mile mark—a nice destination for a rest or lunch stop. The lake's relatively large size and calm conditions make it suitable for recreational paddling of varying skill levels.
Before your visit, check current Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) fishing regulations for seasons and restrictions. Remember to practice outdoor ethics and recreate responsibly while enjoying this public resource and the surrounding 9,000-acre Fishtrap Recreation Area.
