About This Access Site
Flagstaff Lake is a large 17,377-acre lake located in Franklin County's Appalachian Mountains, offering excellent access for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. This ramp provides public launching access to one of Maine's premier paddling and fishing destinations. The lake has multiple boat launch sites on both the east and west ends, so paddlers have options depending on their intended route or destination.

Once on the water, paddlers can explore extensive shoreline and numerous island campsites available for camping. The lake is popular for kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, and fishing. Free tent camping is available at Round Barn campsites on the shore, accessible either by water or via a short trail from the parking area. The calm lake setting makes it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels looking for scenic day trips or multi-day island camping adventures.

For current boating regulations, hours, and any access fees, consult Maine's official boating and fishing regulations. The Nature Conservancy's Northeast Lake & Pond Classification provides additional water quality and ecological information for trip planning.
