Flagstaff Lake's Spring Lake Township ramp provides access to Maine's largest lake in the region at 17,377 acres. This substantial water body offers paddlers plenty of room for kayaking and canoeing, with multiple launch sites available on both the east and west ends of the lake. The lake's size makes it suitable for various skill levels, though paddlers should be prepared for larger water conditions typical of expansive lakes.
This access point is ideal for day trips or multi-day paddling adventures. The lake features numerous island campsites available for overnight trips, including free tent camping at the Round Barn campsites, which are accessible either by water or via a short trail from the parking area. Beyond paddling, the lake supports fishing, swimming, and other recreational activities. Be sure to check current Maine boating and fishing regulations before your visit, and plan accordingly for the open-water conditions you'll encounter on this large lake.
