About This Access Site
The Flaming Gorge Spillway boat ramp provides access to the Green River, a renowned destination for kayakers, canoeists, and other boaters. Located near the town of Dutch John in northeastern Utah, this ramp is situated on the east side of the Flaming Gorge Dam, part of the Colorado River Storage Project.

The Flaming Gorge Reservoir, created by the 502-foot-tall dam, offers ample opportunities for water recreation, including fishing, boating, and paddling. At this access point, boaters can launch onto the scenic and serene Green River, which flows through the dramatic Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The river is generally considered to have a moderate gradient, making it well-suited for a range of skill levels.

Visitors should note that a parking pass may be required to use the Flaming Gorge Spillway boat ramp. Several nearby campgrounds, such as Dutch John Draw, Arch Dam, and Firefighters, provide accommodation options for those planning an extended trip. Shuttle services are also highly recommended, as the takeout point may be located some distance from the launch site.
