About This Access Site
Yellow Bay Unit provides boat ramp access to Flathead Lake, Montana's largest freshwater lake, along with valuable shoreline access for paddlers and boaters. The site features a dedicated boat ramp, a wide gravelly beach, and direct access to Yellow Bay Creek. The facility is known for being well-maintained and offers plenty of room for mooring boats along the shore, making it convenient for launching kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft.

**Note on Access:** The Yellow Bay Unit underwent significant upgrades beginning in March, including installation of an adaptive kayak launching device at the boat ramp—a valuable amenity for paddlers with mobility considerations. The site is typically available mid-March through November, weather permitting. Northern access is straightforward, though southbound travelers should note a sharp 180-degree turn is required to reach the main entrance. For current status and seasonal updates, contact the Flathead Lake State Park Ranger Station at 406-837-3041 or check their Facebook page.

Swan Lake Campground is available nearby for overnight stays, and the site's proximity to Flathead National Forest provides additional recreation opportunities in the region.
