**Paddling Area:** Chocolate Bayou is a coastal bayou system in Southeast Texas, offering flatwater paddling typical of Gulf Coast waterways. The area is located near Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses over 45,000 acres of habitat and provides excellent opportunities to view migratory waterfowl and other bird species, especially during winter months. Nearby alternative access points exist at Liverpool Bridge (off Highway 35 across from Camp Mohawk) and Horseshoe Bend.
**Planning Your Visit:** Check local conditions and access status before launching. This bayou is best suited for kayaks and canoes given its calm, shallow character. Be aware of tidal influences typical of coastal bayous and plan your paddling accordingly.
