About This Access Site
The FM 227 Bridge access point (also known as Demi-John Ramp) provides launch access to Bastrop Bayou in Brazoria County, located east of County Road 459 near the intersection with Trammel Street. This is a convenient put-in for paddlers and boaters exploring the lower bayou system between Richwood and Angleton. The ramp offers direct access to a productive fishing area, with reported populations of spotted seatrout and other species throughout the bayou corridor.

This location works well as a launch point for day trips exploring Bastrop Bayou's calm, flat waters. Paddlers should be aware that the bayou transitions between freshwater and brackish conditions depending on tidal influence and seasonal flow. The nearby Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge (45,000+ acres) provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, particularly migratory waterfowl. Please note that boat trailers should not block the launch ramp or access area. Consider nearby alternatives like Captain Mark's Marina or the FM 2004 Bridge ramp depending on your intended route and fishing targets.
