The FM 418 Bridge boat ramp provides access to Village Creek near Kountze in Southeast Texas. This is a medium-sized river (Stream Order 5) with an average flow of approximately 294 cubic feet per second and a gentle gradient of about 1 foot per mile. Paddlers can expect a scenic, relatively slow-moving waterway suitable for kayaking and canoeing. There is no launch fee for using Village Creek.
From this access point, it's approximately 8.6 miles downstream to the next public launch at Texas Highway 327—a stretch that many paddlers consider the most scenic section of Village Creek. The ramp is conveniently located on FM 418 between Kountze and Silsbee, making it an ideal starting point for paddling trips. The area is also near Big Thicket National Preserve, which offers opportunities to experience diverse ecosystems and wildlife unique to Southeast Texas.
Additional public access points downstream include launches at Texas Highway 327, Baby Galvez Road, US 96, and Village Creek State Park, making it easy to plan multi-day paddling trips or choose shuttle routes of varying distances.
