Located 7 miles west of Pineland in San Augustine County, this Texas Parks and Wildlife Department-operated site offers a four-lane boat ramp suitable for all vessel types, including kayaks and canoes. The access point puts paddlers on one of the numerous waterways feeding Sam Rayburn's expansive network of coves and inlets.
Sam Rayburn Reservoir is known for its pristine natural setting, featuring diverse wildlife and native flora including orchids and insect-eating plants characteristic of the Big Thicket ecosystem. The FM 83 Bridge location is one of 26 boat ramps around the reservoir, making it a solid choice for paddlers exploring the lake's many bayous and protected waters. From Broaddus, follow Highway 147 south 1 mile, then take FM 83 east for 8 miles to reach the ramp. This access point is ideal for day trips or launching longer explorations into the quieter arms of the reservoir away from heavy motor traffic.
