About This Access Site
Located two miles north of US 60 off Highway 260 in Show Low, Fools Hollow Lake Recreation Area offers paddlers and boaters convenient access to a 150-acre mountain lake surrounded by ponderosa pine forest. The recreation area features two boat launch ramps, with the east ramp accessible by turning east at the first intersection and following the road around to the far side of the lake. The facility is well-developed with modern amenities including shower and restroom buildings, electricity, water, and sewer hookups at nearby campsites.

This is an excellent destination for day-use boating and paddling, particularly during the warmer months. From May through August, a local outfitter operates at one of the boat ramps, offering kayak and canoe rentals as well as camping and fishing supplies. The gate operates from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The scenic mountain setting provides good opportunities for wildlife viewing, with elk, deer, coyotes, bobcats, and beavers commonly seen in the area. Several nearby organization camps and the recreation area's own campground make this a good option for paddlers planning a multi-day trip.
