Forest Lake offers a public boat ramp access point in Methuen, Essex County, providing convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. To reach the ramp, take I-93 North to Exit 47, bear left onto Pelham Street, then turn left onto Hampshire Road. At the bend in the road, look for the large unmarked entrance to Forest Lake on your left. Follow the fork toward the public boat ramp and beach area on the right side of the road.
The facility is managed by the Massachusetts Office of Fishing and Boating Access and includes parking areas and a boat ramp suitable for launching paddle craft and small motorboats. Note that season launch passes and property owner resident stickers are available at the Lake Forest Boat Ramp Kiosk—if purchased after hours or on weekends, bring your receipt and photo ID for entry. The proximity to Lowell National Historical Park adds nearby recreation and historical exploration opportunities for those interested in the region's textile mill heritage.
