About This Access Site
Fort Adams offers one of Newport's few public boat launch facilities, providing convenient access to Newport Harbor and Brenton Cove. The site features a concrete slab ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, along with docks, floats, and ample parking in both lower and upper lots. The ramp is owned and managed by RIDEM and can accommodate vessels of various sizes.

**Getting There:** Take Fort Adams Drive into the park, then turn right at the beach area past the old Mule Barn to reach the launch ramp at the southwest corner of the park. From the harbor, paddlers can explore the sheltered waters of Newport Harbor and access the East Passage. The site's fishing piers and proximity to the John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge make it an excellent starting point for both recreational paddling and wildlife viewing. This location is ideal for paddlers seeking protected water and scenic coastal exploration in the Newport area.
