About This Access Site
Located at the mouth of the Columbia River in Baker Bay near Long Beach, Fort Canby State Park offers a well-maintained two-lane boat ramp and 135 feet of dock for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger vessels. The ramp provides access to Baker Bay and the lower Columbia River, both popular fishing and paddling destinations. A daily watercraft launching permit ($7) is required; annual permits are also available. The site includes restroom facilities and day-use parking.

Baker Bay experiences significant tidal influence, so paddlers should plan their trips accordingly and be aware of tidal currents in this estuarine environment. The area is known for fishing opportunities and offers proximity to historic sites like Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. For paddlers seeking overnight options, camping is available at Cape Disappointment State Park nearby. Note that the park entrance requires driving through the town of Illwaco and winding through the park to reach the ramp.
