Fort Custer State Recreation Area offers a concrete boat ramp and dedicated paddle craft access to the Kalamazoo River in Augusta, just between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. The launch site features a large parking lot and is part of this expansive 3,033-acre park, making it a convenient starting point for river paddling and boating adventures. Group camping and restroom facilities (port-a-pot) are available by reservation from the same parking area.
This recreation area is well-suited for multiple water sports, with the Kalamazoo River complemented by three additional lakes (Whitford-Lawler, Jackson Hole, and Eagle Lake), all with concrete ramps and no-wake enforcement. Beyond water activities, the park offers over 40 miles of trails, a swimming beach, and boat rentals. Whether you're launching a kayak, canoe, or motorboat, Fort Custer provides solid infrastructure and ample amenities to support a full day of recreation.
