About This Access Site
Foster's Boat Ramp provides access to the South Fork Shenandoah River near Luray, Virginia. This section of the river is popular with kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The ramp is a primitive concrete launch located directly off Route 684, about 3 miles downstream from Bealers Ferry Landing and 2 miles upstream from Goods Landing.

The South Fork Shenandoah is a scenic mountain river with moderate flow and a relatively gentle gradient, making it well-suited for recreational paddling. Paddlers can expect a peaceful, scenic float through the George Washington National Forest. Nearby campgrounds at Camp Roosevelt and Rapidan Camp Tours provide options for overnight trips on the river.

While the boat ramp is free to use, it does not have any amenities like restrooms or drinking water. Trailers may also have difficulty accessing the launch. Paddlers and boaters should plan accordingly and exercise caution when putting in or taking out at Foster's Boat Ramp.
