Four Mile Lake

Located in Schroeder Township about 10 miles northwest of Tofte, Four Mile Lake offers a concrete log boat ramp and dock managed by the US Forest Service. The rustic campground provides parking for both vehicle and trailer parking, making it a straightforward launch point for paddlers and boaters. The 593-acre lake features brown, bog-stained water typical of northeastern Minnesota's landscape.

Beyond the main campground, Four Mile Lake provides access to two additional backcountry campsites reachable by boat—both first-come, first-served sites with fire grates, latrines, and picnic tables. These remote sites are part of the Superior National Forest's backcountry system, offering paddlers a wilderness camping option. Remember standard backcountry practices: hang food packs, fully extinguish fires, treat or boil all water, and wash dishes away from the lake shore.

There are 2 sites on this lake, each have a fire grate, a latrine and may have a picnic table. A few reminders: Hang food packs, put your fire out each time you leave your campsite, treat or boil all water, wash yourself and dishes at least 150ft from any body of water, pack out all garbage and Leave No Trace.
