About This Access Site
The Fox Chain O'Lakes boat ramp in Antioch provides convenient access to one of Illinois' most expansive lake systems. This state-owned facility offers FREE launching for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats wanting to explore the chain's eight interconnected lakes. The ramp is part of Chain O'Lakes State Park and features ample parking with trailer access nearby.
The Fox Chain O'Lakes system totals over 8,800 acres of water, with Fox/Nippersink Lake (2,376 acres) and Pistakee Lake (1,715 acres) comprising the largest portions. The interconnected network makes it ideal for extended paddling trips and exploration. The lakes are well-maintained with clean facilities and support a variety of fish species including bass, pike, walleye, and muskie.
**Note:** The system implements a winter drawdown beginning in late fall (typically completed by December 1st), which may affect water levels and access conditions during winter months. Check current conditions with Chain O'Lakes State Park before your visit.
