Frontier Resort

Frontier Resort offers boat ramp access to the Ash River in Orr, providing convenient entry to Voyageurs National Park's extensive waterway system. Located 28 miles south of International Falls and 11 miles off Highway 53, the resort features a boat launch with staff assistance available—note that the ramp is deeper on one side than the other, which can affect loading and unloading. The resort is open May through September, with seasonal closures during winter months.

This access point is ideal for anglers and paddlers heading to nearby lakes including Kabetogama, Namakan, and Sand Point, or for those planning to portage into Rainy Lake. The resort offers additional amenities including boat rentals, dock space, a fish cleaning station, cabin lodging, and on-site dining. The Ash River Visitor Center is open during our summer season from late May to late September.
Ash River Visitor Center is closed over the winter season. The Ash River Visitor Center is located in the historic Meadwood Lodge. Take a moment to explore this historic, rustic building. Watch your head, as some interior doorways were constructed for shorter individuals.
