About This Access Site
The Garden Road access point on the Crawfish River in Hubbleton offers a convenient launch location with a large parking area suitable for small trailered boats, kayaks, and canoes. This site is located on the east side of the river and serves as a secondary access point to the Crawfish River system, which eventually connects to the Rock River and ultimately the Mississippi River.

Paddlers should be aware of several important considerations before launching. Wind can be a significant factor on this open paddle, so check forecasts before heading out. If planning a longer trip downstream, note that the Danville Dam requires portaging—do not attempt to run the spillway, as dangerous recirculating currents and irregularities can capsize boats. The portage path is well-marked and straightforward. Additionally, flow gauges on the Crawfish are located nearly 30 miles downstream, so they may not accurately reflect current conditions at this access point.

The surrounding area is primarily open prairie with some oak woods, making for pleasant scenery on your paddle.
