The Gasport boat ramp on the Erie Canal in Niagara County, New York provides convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. Located at mile marker 313.25, the ramp has a hard surface and can accommodate up to 60 vehicles with trailers.
This access site is situated along the iconic Erie Canal, a historic waterway that spans over 350 miles across New York State. The canal offers a scenic and tranquil paddling experience, with gently flowing water that's well-suited for beginner and intermediate paddlers. Boaters should be aware of commercial canal traffic and obey all navigation rules.
It's important to note that this access site will be closed to the public from June 2023 through mid-November 2025 due to an access improvement project. During this time, paddlers and boaters may want to consider using the free boat ramp located approximately 1,800 feet to the east, on the same side of the canal. Once the project is complete, the Gasport site should offer an enhanced launch experience for those enjoying the Erie Canal.
