Gateway Park offers a convenient public access point to Lake Huron's west shore in Tawas City. The facility features a two-lane concrete boat ramp with an attached dock and paved parking area, making it suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger recreational boats. The ramp is located off W Lake Street on the mid-lake western side.
**Seasonal Operation & Requirements:** The ramp is available from early April through mid-November, weather permitting. A seasonal permit or daily launch fee is required year-round; fees follow MDNR Waterways Commission guidelines. Paddlers should plan accordingly during shoulder seasons when water conditions and weather may be variable. This is a solid option for exploring Lake Huron's shoreline and open water, though conditions can be exposed—always check forecasts before launching.
