Geddes Public Water Access provides boat launching facilities for Lake Geddes-Pease Creek, a scenic water body in Charles Mix County near the Missouri River system. Located 9 miles south of Geddes off SD Highway 1804, this access point serves paddlers and motorboaters looking to explore the area's extensive waterways. The launch provides direct access to Lake Francis Case, a large impoundment offering ample space for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating.
The nearby Pease Creek Recreation Area offers excellent amenities to complement your paddling trip, including a full campground with electric sites, picnic areas, and fishing facilities. The wooded terrain and bluffs above the water create scenic paddling conditions, and the recreation area remains open year-round, though some facilities (showers, flush toilets) may close seasonally from October through April—contact the park at 605.773.8239 for current status. Vault toilets are typically available year-round.
Before launching, remember to practice the CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY technique to prevent aquatic invasive species. South Dakota may require an AIS permit before placing your watercraft in the water. The area provides good day-use and overnight camping options, making it an ideal base for exploring Lake Francis Case and nearby Lake Andes National Wildlife Refuge.
