About This Access Site
The Gee Creek boat ramp provides access to the Hiwassee River, a large, swift-flowing headwater stream in southeastern Tennessee. With a total length of 146 miles and an average flow of nearly 5,000 cubic feet per second, the Hiwassee is a substantial river suitable for kayaking, canoeing, and small motorized boats.

The boat ramp is located in the town of Delano, within the Cherokee National Forest. It offers a paved launch area and parking, making it a convenient access point for paddlers and anglers. The Hiwassee is known for its excellent trout and bass fishing, as well as opportunities to spot wildlife like bald eagles along the river corridor.

Upstream, the Hiwassee flows through the Gee Creek Wilderness, providing a remote, scenic experience for those willing to hike the 1.3-mile trail to Gee Creek Falls. Downstream, the river offers about 55 miles of continuous public access and adventure, from the Powerhouse boat ramp down to the Big Bend parking area. Nearby campgrounds at Parksville Lake and the Cherokee National Forest provide accommodations for those looking to spend more time on and around the Hiwassee River.
