About This Access Site
Genoa Harbor offers public boat access to the Mississippi River via a concrete ramp managed by the Village of Genoa. Located approximately three miles south of Genoa, Wisconsin on Highway 35's west side, this access point provides a convenient launch for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats exploring Pool 8 of the Upper Mississippi River. The site is situated within the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, a 261-mile protected area known for scenic beauty and recreational opportunities.

Boaters should be prepared for a major river system with significant current and flow. The Mississippi in this region averages 11.24 feet per second velocity with an average discharge of 685,352 cubic feet per second, making it suitable for experienced paddlers and motorboats. The area features a relatively gentle gradient of 0.8 feet per mile in this section. Food and lodging are available in nearby Genoa, and the site is near the Genoa National Fish Hatchery if you're interested in a land-based stop. For specific information about amenities, hours, and current conditions, contact the Village of Genoa or the hatchery at (608) 689-2605. Emergency services are available through Vernon County Sheriff at 911 or (608) 637-2124.
