About This Access Site
The George Lake Lodge boat ramp provides access to the scenic Tanana River and adjoining George Lake. This remote location is primarily accessible by boat during the summer months, though access can be challenging at times due to shallow water and narrow channels in George Creek.

Paddlers and small boaters can launch their vessels directly from the boat ramp and explore the Tanana River and George Lake. The Tanana River is a large, glacial-fed river with strong currents, so caution is advised. George Lake connects to the Tanana via George Creek, which is narrow and shallow, requiring careful navigation. Larger boats may have difficulty navigating the creek.

The boat ramp is located at mile 1385 of the Alaska Highway. Facilities at the site are limited, so paddlers and boaters should be self-sufficient and prepared for remote conditions. This access point serves as a gateway to the wilderness areas surrounding George Lake and the Tanana River, offering opportunities for fishing, wildlife viewing, and other outdoor recreation.
