About This Access Site
**Location & Facilities**
Gillespie Old City Lake is located in Macoupin County near Gillespie, Illinois. The access site features a concrete boat ramp on the north end of the impoundment. While the ramp is steep, it is usable for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats. A lake store is available on-site where you can purchase required boat stickers. The area also offers camping facilities for extended visits.

**Regulations & Conditions**
This lake operates under a trolling motor-only regulation, making it ideal for paddlers and small electric-motor boats. During Illinois Waterfowl Season, fishing is restricted to 10:00am–2:00pm hours. The lake is known for good crappie fishing with plenty of panfish including bluegill and sunfish. Beyond boating, the site offers picnicking and scenic views, making it suitable for a variety of water-based recreation activities.
