The Goose Bay Point MacKenzie boat ramp provides access to the Knik Arm, a large inlet of the Cook Inlet in south-central Alaska. This unmaintained boat ramp is located approximately 17 miles south of Wasilla along the Knik-Goose Bay Road, then a right turn onto Point MacKenzie Road and a 7-mile drive to the "T" intersection, followed by a right and left turn onto Ayrshire Road. The last 0.5 mile to the boat ramp is on a dirt road that may require a 4-wheel drive vehicle if wet.
The boat ramp itself is relatively primitive, so paddlers and small boaters should exercise caution when launching. The Knik Arm can see strong tidal currents, so be prepared for challenging conditions. Beyond the boat ramp, the Knik Arm offers opportunities for exploration by kayak, canoe, and small motorized boats, with access to Goose Creek and the surrounding wilderness areas. However, much of the shoreline is privately owned, so be mindful of property boundaries. Those seeking a more developed launch site may want to consider the public campground and boat launch further down Point MacKenzie Road along the Little Susitna River.
