Goose Lake Wildlife Area offers a convenient public boat ramp access point on Goose Lake, a 62-acre seepage lake located in Clinton County, Iowa. The day-use area features a boat ramp, parking, picnic tables, and vault toilet facilities, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorboats. Access is located along Kessler Road on the north side of the lake, approximately 3.5 miles northeast of the intersection of highways A and H.
The lake is regularly stocked with cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout throughout the season, making it popular for fishing from small boats, float tubes, and rafts. The surrounding 1,290-acre wildlife area consists of three-quarters marsh and one-quarter timber and upland habitat, providing scenic views and opportunities to observe waterfowl, deer, pheasant, and other wildlife. This is a first-come, first-serve day-use area that's family-friendly and ideal for a relaxing paddling or fishing outing. For more information, contact the Maquoketa Wildlife Unit at 563-357-2035.
