About This Access Site
Mercelina Park offers convenient access to Grand Lake St. Marys, Ohio's largest inland lake at 13,000 acres. This state-operated boat ramp is one of nine launch facilities around the lake, making it a reliable access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The lake features 52 miles of shoreline and is open to all types of recreational boating, including fishing, swimming, and water skiing.

Paddlers should be aware that Grand Lake St. Marys permits boats with unlimited horsepower, so expect powerboat traffic. However, a 300-foot no-wake zone is enforced around the shoreline, which provides calmer conditions for paddling near shore. The lake's large size and open water make it suitable for various skill levels, though paddlers should monitor weather conditions given the expanse of open water. Multiple access points around the lake offer flexibility if you need to relocate your launch site.
