Grape Creek provides public boat access to Hiwassee Lake in the mountains of western North Carolina near Murphy. This is one of the area's premier access points, featuring two public boat ramps, ample paved parking, a swimming area, restrooms, and a picnic pavilion. The facility is well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore Hiwassee Lake and the surrounding area.

The Hiwassee River system is a large waterway (Stream Order 7) with a substantial drainage area of 2,693 square miles and average flows around 4,890 cubic feet per second. In this location near the headwaters, paddlers will experience the river's mountainous character with significant elevation changes and a moderate gradient.
