Grass Lake State Forest Campground

**Access & Facilities**
Located in Thompsonville near the Betsie River, this state forest campground offers carry-in access to the water at the campground. The facility includes 15 tent and small trailer sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis with no reservations required. This makes it a convenient base for paddlers planning to explore the river.

**Paddling Opportunities**
The Betsie River access provides options for both upstream and downstream paddling. Upstream travel through the marsh offers easy, scenic paddling, while downstream paddling below the dam allows for more varied exploration. A gravel access point is available above the dam. Paddlers should note that Pickerel Creek enters on river right approximately one-third mile above the access point. The campground's location on Grass Lake Flooding also provides additional water recreation opportunities beyond the river itself.
