The Great Miami River boat ramp at Shawnee Lookout provides convenient water access near River Mile 3.4 on the lower Great Miami River, located at 2008 Lawrenceburg Road in North Bend, Ohio. This access point features a parking lot, restrooms, drinking water, and picnic facilities, making it a well-equipped launch for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The ramp sits on a short channel off the main river near the Great Miami's confluence with other waterways.
This location is particularly valuable as a **take-out point** for paddlers traveling downstream, as public access sites are limited in this lower section of the river. The area can experience significant water traffic, including larger motorboats, so paddlers should be prepared for mixed-use conditions. Note that upstream access near US 50 requires coordination with available public launches, and paddlers should be aware of hazards including a whirlpool near the US 50 bridge (portage required) and dam crossings that may require portaging.
