Great Pond in Kingston offers a convenient public boat launch suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and car-top boats. The access point features a concrete ramp at Kingston State Park, with limited parking (fewer than 10 spaces). The ramp is best utilized for hand-carried craft and smaller vessels; those launching trailered boats with shallow draft may require four-wheel-drive vehicles due to the unpaved conditions near the water. The facility is located at the 44-acre Kingston State Park, which provides additional amenities including picnic areas with fireplaces and a swimming beach.
Paddlers should be aware that buoys mark shallow areas and protect the designated swimming zone at the State Beach. No-wake zones are enforced in the small bay near the public boat launch and along the west side of Clarks Island. Great Pond is popular with anglers, particularly those interested in trout fishing.
