This small boat ramp on River Road provides access to the Withlacoochee River in the heart of the Green Swamp, a remote wilderness area ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Located near Dade City in Pasco County, the ramp is situated at the western section of the Green Swamp West Tract, accessible via River Road near the intersection of Auton Road off U.S. Highway 301. The facility offers a straightforward launch point for exploring the river's winding waterway through largely undeveloped landscape.
Paddlers can expect a scenic, remote wilderness experience as the Withlacoochee River winds through the preserve. A 1.5-mile connector trail links to Withlacoochee River Park, providing additional exploration options. The area is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, making it excellent for wildlife viewing and birdwatching. Fishing opportunities are abundant along this section of river.
Before visiting, check with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for current boating regulations, fishing licenses, and any seasonal access restrictions. The preserve offers multiple camping options nearby if you wish to extend your visit into a multi-day paddling adventure.
