About This Access Site
Greenbrier State Park offers a paved boat ramp with dock access on its 42-acre man-made freshwater lake in the Appalachian Mountains near Boonsboro. The facility is designed for paddlers and boaters bringing their own vessels—canoe and kayak rentals are not available at the park, though electric motors are permitted. Note that the ramp is situated in a shallow cove at the back of the lake, which can limit access to deeper water during periods of low water levels.

The park provides extensive visitor amenities including a camp store, picnic areas, and lakefront facilities. A white sandy beach is available for swimming, and the lake supports fishing and other water recreation. The park operates on a trash-free basis and lies within the Maryland Blue Ridge Important Bird Area. For overnight stays, hiker-biker campsites are available at no charge within 5-7 miles along the nearby towpath (one-night limit, no reservations needed). For more information, contact the park at (301) 739-4200 or visit nps.gov/choh.
